Everyday has basically been the same for me now. I have adjusted my schedule as well as my body so that now everything seems normal. I never knew that I would say this but, staying at home is now normal. I have been doing the same things over and over again such as homework, studying, playing video games, eating, and sleeping. It repeats and somehow I never get that bored. In fact, the day goes by more quickly for me. Maybe I just sleep too long, I don't know. Anyways, Apple is going to announce and launch the new iPhone SE. I am excited for that because I have the original iPhone SE that was made in 2016 and I am looking to upgrade. What appeals me so much about this new 2020 version is that it has a really good camera, the iPhone 11 processor, and is only $400. For many, $400 seems a lot, but when comparing it to other phones in the apple line-up, it's more of a bargain. Although, I really want it to get it soon, I'd rather go in store to physically see it and try it out before I buy it. Along with other things, I have been figuring out Amazon Web Services and Talentbox. It took me some time to figure out how to use both of them, but when I did, there were different features and tools that I could play around with. Specifically, in Talentbox I went through the arhitecture track and the 3D Design and Printing track. Although, I didn't really know the logistics of everything, I hope to get familiar with everything and get to doing projects. For Amazon Web Services, I kinda did the same thing with checking everything out and picked out something interesting. Under Game Tech, I went to Amazon Lumberyard which is basically a free cross-platform 3D game engine. I am still trying to navigate around this program, but everything seems good and I am ready to keep going.

Since last week, things haven't changed all too much. I have been walking my dog, playing video games, and studying for the AP Exams and the SAT. For video games, I tried playing Fortnite on my 7 year old iMac. Although, I had to turn all the setting to low and change the max fps to 60, it was surprisingly good. It was way smoother than expected and I really enjoyed it. Also, I have been playing a lot of Warzone, GTA, and Overwatch. With not much to do during these times, video games have the ability to connect with others. Most of my day has been spent reviewing and studying for the AP Exams and the SAT. With 3 AP's and the SAT nearly a week after the AP Exams, it's getting a little difficult to handle all the content. Fortunately, I have found ways to do small parts each day so that I can review effectively. For my portal/activity choice, I have chosen Amazon Web Services and Talentbox. Amazon Web services are a group of cloud computing platforms and Talentbox is very similar as it deals also with STEM. I have yet to really explore the website and dig into all that it offers, but have made the accounts and am ready to go. For Help Desk, I am excited to go through the websites and find what interest me. I specifically like things with coding and programming so if there is anything of that, I will be glad.At such as unprecedented time, COVID-19 killed many people around the globe, ruined many economies(such as the U.S), and called for a time to think and reflect. We have been so dependent on a routine to get up out of your bed, go to school or work, come back home and then do the same thing over again. For many, its just an endless cycle that distracts people from stopping, looking at something bigger than themselves, and reflecting. During this time, I realized that I am so grateful for the things that I have: a family, food, a house, and technology. At this time, there are people in neighboring towns that are struggling to get food or even to do school and homework without a Chromebook or an iPad. Since the school closure, I have been watching a lot of Youtube, Facetiming, Messaging, and Calling. I don't play too many video games since I have an iMac which has really benefited me so that I don't get sucked into a hole of addiction. However, the Youtube algorithm is something that can't be overlooked. After you watch one video, there's no escaping. For the first week and a half, I watched alot, but when I realized I had to study for AP Exams and the SAT along with doing schoolwork, I minimized it. Also, I have been facetiming, calling, and messaging most of my friends so that we can still stay connected. It's tough not seeing them, but I've slowly gotten used to it. If it's a good day outside, I will fly my drone around Fox Hill or even in some busy places. Having a view from above makes it way more interesting and also showed the impact the Corona virus had on the public. In terms of distance learning, I have mixed feelings on it. For one, it's kinda good for my AP classes where we can review for the AP Exam, but for the other classes, I feel like its all busy work. Work that probably won't even benefit me in the long run. Along with all that, I wish that the teachers could just grade that work like any other work we have had prior to Coronacation. Instead of putting COM or INC on Aspen, for completion or in completion, I would rather have a regular number grade to go with the assignment. This way, grading would still be the same and if there are any issues, the teacher and student could discuss it via google hangouts, email, or any other form of communication. |
